Jane Kenyon’s poem “The Blue Bowl” is about the burial of a pet cat whom the poet loved very much. Demise of the cat made a blank hole in the heart of the speaker who was deepened saddened but still she gave a proper burial to the cat with her own hands. From the name of the poem, it can be said that the blue bowl with which the cat was buried holds some special significance although it was never mentioned what type of a bowl it really was. There is a possibility that it might be some kind of a food bowl or a sign of love and nourishment provided by the owner of the cat.
